5 Head-Turning Tips to Create Natural Makeup Looks
The natural makeup trend may not be a new concept, but it is gaining new momentum after a year of living life virtually makeup-less. Now that we’ve started rebuilding our wardrobe with outfits other than loungewear and activewear sets, it’s time to refresh our makeup routine too.
Do you want to rock that natural, no-makeup look? Here are five simple tips to achieve that flawless finish and make heads turn.
Primed and Perfect
Perfecting the just-rolled-out-of-bed-but-looking-fabulous vibe starts way before you grab that makeup bag. Your daily skincare routine is the bottle-less foundation that sets the tone for your final debut. For a glow that is primed and perfect, start with a clean face. Then prep your skin with a hydrating face mask, moisturizing spray, or oil-free moisturizer. Let it set in before applying your primer. For our DIY addicts, here are some of our favorite hair and face mask recipes.
Want the key to a radiant, natural makeup look? Minimal yet effective foundation. Avoid the temptation to grab that full-coverage cream, and stick to lighter, thinner foundations. Tinted moisturizers and CC creams are ideal. (Bonus points if they have SPF built-in!) The perfect foundation will be lightweight enough to blend easily while still providing coverage for uneven spots or redness. You’ll want those natural makeup looks to have a dewy finish. Matte vibes just look too cakey, girl.
Brows have become the centerpiece for natural makeup looks. Brushed, bolder brows are all the rage. Use a brow pencil to *lightly* fill in the gaps, and go over the hairs with an angled brush to blend. Your brushing technique should use an upward and outward motion from the inner brow toward the end. Top it off with a clear brow mascara for that beautiful yet natural-looking finish.
If you choose to use an eyeliner, be sure to keep the lines thin and as close to the lids as possible. Stick with black or brown. No matter the occasion, we’re in the mascara is always appropriate camp. We recommend wiping excess mascara before applying it to your lashes to avoid those bold, noticeable clumps. For those who can’t forgo the shadow, stick with neutral tones that have a toned-down shimmer or satin feel.
Seal with a Flush and a Kiss
It’s time to complete your look. Add a slight tint to the cheeks to give you that natural, flushed appearance. So, how do you decide which blush color will play most naturally with your skin tone? Here’s our favorite hack. Try pinching your cheeks, and then match your blush choice with the resulting color. Cream blushes are long-lasting and work well for almost all skin types, though powder may work better if you have drier skin. To top off that barely-there natural makeup look, opt for a sheer lipstick, or add a touch of color that matches the flush-color used on your cheeks.
Accent your natural look, and step out as the most radiant version of yourself. What are your favorite makeup products to use when you’re going for au naturale vibes? Let us know in the comment box below or on our Instagram. Shine on wicked babes!
