10 Self Care Activities To Try This Weekend.

Though we love talking about hair & beauty trends, self-care will always be something we hold near and dear to our hearts. Remember wicked babes, self care is the best care. We focus so much on building an empire and trying to leave behind a legacy, that it can become easy to forget about your wellness in the process. We don’t want you to burn out! Having a good mental state will allow you to produce better work, don’t forget that.

Whether your idea of a relaxing time is sleeping in, getting a massage, or trying a hair mask, we put together a list of 10 self-care activities you can try this weekend all without leaving your house!

Journaling

You don’t have to be a wordsmith or poet to enjoy journaling. Journaling is a great way to relieve stress and let go of emotions by writing them down on paper. It’s also an excellent way to stay organized with your ideas, make lists, and set new goals. Write about your dreams and manifest your future!

Bonus points if you doodle in your journal!

Dance Like Nobody's Watching

Remember that scene of Cameron Diaz in Charlie’s Angels dancing in her bedroom? That’s exactly what we mean. Move your body freely to your favorite songs and you will be amazed at how liberated you feel. It’s good for both your mental and physical health.

Tip: Prepare your favorite songs on a playlist ahead of time. If you want to throw in a little twerk or 2, we ain't judging you. Do your thing girl.

Meditate

If you're not into dancing freely, you can practice staying still. Those who haven’t meditated before may find it difficult. It takes a long time to master but it’s worth the journey. The ability to silence your mind in such a crazy world should be considered a superpower. Nonetheless, there’s a lengthy list of scientific benefits from meditating: reduces stress, controls anxiety, enhances self awareness, helps you focus on the daily, and even promotes kindness just to name a few.

Call A Friend

This one is pretty simple. In a world run by texting, tweets, and instagram captions,  it's nice to call a friend once in a while. Call up a girlfriend or family member and have a nice talk. Hearing someone's voice you care about can have an amazing soothing & positive effect on your day. Hopefully you’ll be hanging up with a smile on your face.

Take A Bubble Bath With A Little Aromatherapy

You don’t have to go out to get a taste of the Spa Life. Enjoy a nice bubble bath and light an essential oil candle. We recommend a peaceful aroma you may like such as lavender, ylang ylang, or a eucalyptus blend. Bubble baths are an easy way to let your body heal by allowing your muscles to relax while stimulating blood flow and lowering tensions.

Tip: Enjoying a glass of wine during your bubble bath wouldn’t hurt. 21+ ladies!

Play With Makeup Even If You Don’t Think You’re Good At It.

You have to start somewhere. So many people love makeup but don’t know where to start, but the secret is starting! Grab a bright eyeshadow palette and do something abstract. Your eyelid is your canvas. You may be surprised at how much you love it.

Read About Something That Interests You

Books can be a magical escape from reality that allows you to indulge in different worlds. Do we even have to mention Harry Potter? Whether you’re into sci-fi, history, nonfiction, suspense or romance, find a good novel recommendation from a friend or online. There are tons of great book clubs out there too. It’s the perfect way to go on a little trip without having to move a muscle.

Tip: If you’re not into long novels, you can always read a magazine, blog, comic book, or newspaper.

Plant Something

You don’t need a backyard to be able to plant something, an apartment will do just fine. Plants are such a gift to the earth and to us. You will find plant extracts in many of your favorite skincare and hair products. Plan ahead and buy some seeds, soil, and a proper plant pot. Wait till the weekend rolls around and watch yourself become a plant mama. Having plants in your house is so visually pleasing and connects you to nature.

Tip: If you’re afraid of starting with planting a seed, adopt a plant first. Buy something that’s already grown a bit and try taking care of it. Remember to do a little research so you know how to care for your plant properly. You can also talk to it to help it grow!

Take A Social Media Break

Bonus points if you can make it an overall screen break! Though social media has many benefits and can be inspiring when used properly, everyone can use a break from endless scrolling and content. Staring at a screen for endless hours isn’t healthy, disconnecting is. Remember baby girl, you’re not a robot. Try one of our tips above instead to fill your time.
