Trying to turn up the volume, but everything is just falling flat? Despite all the volumizing products on the market, sometimes the struggles of amping up fine hair are hard to overcome. Trying to turn up the volume, but everything is just falling flat? Despite the hundreds of shampoos, conditioners, and other products on the market, sometimes the struggles of amping up fine hair are hard to overcome. Today we’re giving you a peek behind the most luscious of locks with these tips and tricks to get voluminous hair.

Start On The Inside

Scrambling daily to get more volume in your hair? They say it’s what’s on the inside that counts, and hair is no different. Did you know your diet makes a significant impact on how healthy your locks are? To promote hair growth, be sure you’re eating iron-rich foods like spinach, chard, kale, tofu, beans, oats, quinoa, and legumes. Green juice anyone? Biotin and protein are also extremely important for healthy hair. Biotin can be found in foods such as eggs, legumes, nuts, sweet potatoes, broccoli and mushrooms, while protein can be found in lean meats, eggs, nuts, dairy products, and tofu. A balanced diet and active lifestyle does wonders for your overall wellness, hair included. Healthy life, healthy locks is the ultimate goal!

(Don’t) Turn Up the Heat

While those of us with finer hair might be tempted to reach for curling irons and blow dryers, it is important to give your tresses a break from the heat for voluminous hair. Excessive heat styling can cause damage and make your hair brittle and dry. Use healthy oils and products (steer clear of ones that weigh down or cause damage to your hair), and try to air dry as much as possible. When you want to use a heat styling tool, try to keep the temperature down - it might take a little longer to dry or curl your hair, but the long-term benefits are worth it. Also, NEVER EVER style your hair without a heat protectant spray first!

Scrub Less, Dry Shampoo More

While it might seem counterintuitive, washing your fine hair too often (and cleansing the natural oils from those locks) will make your hair appear flatter and greasier. When you wash up, use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner (and only a few times each week). If your roots feel dirty between washes, use a spritz of dry shampoo to help your hair last an extra day or two. It may be tempting to go wild with all the volumizing products; however, the more you use, the more weight you add to your hair. This just makes it flatter (and dirtier!).

Add Your Own Volume

Are you busy searching “how to get volume in hair?” Here’s an easy solution for voluminous hair - extensions! With Remy human hair extensions, you can transform your fine or lifeless hair into flowy, envy-inducing tresses in minutes. Whether you want to Clip It, Band It, or more semi-permanently Tape It, you can easily accentuate your locks in a beautifully natural way.

Cut It Out

A new, flattering haircut is the best feeling in the world. If you are wondering how to add volume to fine hair, ask your stylist for a cut with styled layers. A one-length haircut can make your hair appear lifeless, while a cut with more dimension will give your hair the pizazz you are looking for. If you are wondering how to give hair volume, you might also want to consider adding highlights or lowlights. Let your stylist play with color to help add depth and give your hair the illusion of thick, glittering locks.

Hit The Snooze

Your grandma might have said you’ll catch a cold sleeping on wet hair, but hear us out (we promise you won’t get sick!). Before you jump in those sheets:

  1. Wash, towel dry, and gently comb your hair.
  2. Add a simple mask or hair serum, and then sleep on it.
  3. Don’t skip the towel dry, though, as sleeping on soaking wet hair can have the opposite effect and cause damage.

If you want to effortlessly give your extra hair volume when you wake up, try braiding it before bed. You’ll rise with gorgeous mermaid waves in the morning.

Embrace It

As frustrating as fine hair can sometimes be, your silky and sleek locks are also enviable! Waking up every day with low maintenance, straight hair can be a blessing in disguise, especially if you are very active or head to work early in the morning! A sleek bun and a chic high ponytail can do wonders for any bedhead. Simple is also sexy!
